Scott Miller

Scott Miller stopped in to Studio 101 on his way to a historical building benefit show and played a few songs (most of which were in tune).
Scott Miller grew up on a farm in Swoope, VA and graduated from William and Mary with American History and Russian Studies degrees. Somewhere along the way, he developed a love of trains and typewriters, historical figures like Sam Houston and Benjamin Franklin, and, of course, writing and performing music for enthusiastic audiences anywhere and everywhere.
Scott moved to Knoxville, TN in 1990 and joined up with a band that became known as the V-Roys which had a pretty good run before they split up in 1999. He went on to form Scott Miller and the Commonwealth who released their debut , Thus Always to Tyrants on the Sugar Hill record label. Like all of his projects, the threads of his Virginia heritage are woven through the musical tapestry of the album. Scott eventually moved the Commonwealth onto his own label F.A.Y. Recordings.
Scott returns often to visit family and friends here in the Roanoke Valley and points beyond. His live performances are known as being a rollicking good time! Be sure to get your tickets early the next time he's in town.
