How It Works

cafe2 (Community Alliance for Energy Efficiency) is a non-profit community program and your one-stop shop for what to do, who to call, and how to pay for your home’s energy upgrades. So, how does your home measure up?

Why Upgrade Your Energy Efficiency?

It’s your money, you should keep it.

Who wants to throw their hard earned money out the window? Because that’s exactly what you may be doing with your current home. The U.S. Department of Energy found that Americans spend $241 billion each year on their energy bills – that’s about $2,100 per house! Our team of experts can help you identify the areas of energy loss in your home, call the experts to fix those problems and find ways to finance these improvements. On average, Americans can save up to $600 per year with energy efficiency upgrades. And savings keep compounding the longer you stay in your home!

A healthy home equals a healthy family.

Do you and your family suffer from allergies or asthma, even when it isn’t pollen season? Poor indoor air quality is one of those problems that you can’t see, but can feel. And the cost is your health. Leaky ducts an inefficient HVAC systems can leave you open for attacks from mold, dust mites, pollen, insects, rodents and other pests. A home energy assessment can help you identify these health issues and the fixes that will help you and your family breathe easier.

Stay warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer.

Do your feet freeze when you walk across your floors in the winter? Or is there a room that you just close off because it’s so hot and stuffy in the summer? The familiar causes of discomfort — humidity, drafts, cold or hot spots — are all lessened by improvements in energy efficiency. It’s a difference that you can literally feel because you’re more comfortable year round.

Working together we can make a big difference.

Everyone’s talking about how they bought a new fuel-efficient car or upgraded their home’s energy efficiency. This is one time that keeping up with the Joneses can be a good thing! If we all work to improve our home’s energy efficiency, we can protect and save our local and global environment for our children and grand children to enjoy. Plus, we can put money directly into our economy by supporting local jobs and small businesses.
